Many hands make light work - as the committee set the scene for our July Strawberry Tea. Although it had been raining in the morning, the sun came out just in time for the afternoon which was nice. Our committee members had made cakes and whilst strawberries and cream were being prepared Kath was setting up the display of raffle prizes in readiness for the 2pm start. Again this year, we were so lucky to be able to hold this event in Dee's lovely garden. We had all been looking forward to a relaxing afternoon and a chat together, whilst eating the delicious food and of course drinking copious cups of tea, all wonderfully served by some of the committee members.... ................and those strawberries where really sweet and delicious! Jack Morton and his daughter visited us along with some of our new members, which was nice. We also had a collection in memory of Gina's husband, which was given to The Brain Tumour Charity. Members Travelling Books were on display, showing this months work that has been beautifully done, including a further embroidery on Scotland, Nature, New York and Tulips to name a few. Our 60th Anniversary cards where on display, which have all been fixed to the display boards by Ann Reading, and we are very grateful for the amount of time she has spent preparing this for our Strawberry Tea, In the near future, we will be seeing a new gallery on this site, to display these cards individually, so that you can have a closer look. It had been a lovely day had by all. Due to our attendance at the Harris Library, Preston for National Stitch Day in August, our next meeting will be on Saturday 5th September 2015.
