North West Region Travelling Book
Everyone got settled and began to stitch.
![]() This month we had a day where we could stitch and chat together. First we all met together for the notices given by Dee about forthcoming events, such as our strawberry tea in July and our exhibition in February at Barton Grange. The ladies who are working on the travelling books brought their latest work for us to see; it is just amazing how many different types of high quality work there were. North West Region Travelling BookWe had decided to work on the North West Regional Travelling Book during our Saturday 'Stitch and Chat', the theme would be the Preston Coat of Arms with lots of 1.5 inch squares of felt being worked on using 3 different colours of blue embroidery thread on each piece. Everyone got settled and began to stitch. Some chose to use one stitch throughout, others used several stitches. Here are some of the samples being worked on. Whilst everyone stitched one of our members, Yvonne Downing, kindly set to work on making a couple of presentation pages for us to insert into the Regional Travelling Book. Another member, Zena Clayton, had kindly embroidered the Coat of Arms with the lamb of Saint Wilfrid, the Patron Saint of Preston, at the centre. Zena had digitized it using software before it could be embroidered onto felt. We all thought it looked amazing! Here are some pictures of the finished results, which will be cut out and put into the book. As our day came to a close, we all enjoyed looking at the different stitches everyone had done. Helen Forshaw has taken on the task of putting it all together, and we will look forward to seeing the finished pages. Many thanks to the committee and everyone else involved for organising and preparing for the day. We don't know what we would do without you all! Carolynne Parkinson
